Suggest forming two sub forums

    Seems to me there are two different types of threads and posts here;
    One is related to bushcraft and survival if you get lost on the mountains type situations.
    The other is people preparing for a collapse or at best a serious deterioration in normal life and people making plans to survive.

    It seems to me that making two seperate sub-forums would be helpful.

    We don't have a massive amount of users so it would only fragment the place more.

    There are already an amount of somewhat similar forums around
    *Farming & Forestry -> smallholding
    *Sustainability & Environmental issues
    *Outdoor pursuits
    *Home & garden - > Construction & planning -> renewable energies

    all these get their fair share of threads that would fit in quite well here. many have threads related to actual off grid self sufficient living that don't involve a SHTF situation. and outdoor pursuits would pick up on some survivalism related things as well

    As eth0 says, there is nowhere near enough traffic to justify any subforums, the forum is just about ticking over as is. The diversity of topics is a sign of the interest of posters. As with all forums, the search function is your friend.

    Regular posters could always add [Bushcraft] or [SHTF] to the titles of their threads if they feel the need, but even then there's quite a cross over in many of the threads. Where for example do you put 24hour Emergency Rations......From Lidl as to me that fits into both catagories as you might take a similar pack on a bushcraft expedition or keep one in a bug out bag for when the SHTF. So a split even if we had the foot fall would really also need a parent thread adding up to 3 threads in total which I don't think is a runner

    The crossover between 'normal' survival strategies and SHTF survival makes good reading, imho.
    The only difference between the two, is the possible presence of 'bad people' in a SHTF scenario.

    And we probably can't discuss how to deal with 'bad people' which is all very boring, I'll have to leave my man trap plans, hollow point bullet designs and poison arrow tip recipes undiscussed :pac:

    Although if you change forum and subsitute zombie for bad people you can describe in detial your weapon of choice and exactly how you'd use it to decapitate people a zombie :P

    Probably best to leave it in that forum ;)

    Just posted in the DIY Car Maintenance & Repair and wondered if their "Prefix" feature they have would be of any use here? Check the new thread link there to see what I mean.
