I've switched to android after a long time with an iphone and one feature I miss is the onscreen prompt which would notify me when wifi networks where in range.

the android only seems to want to do this with open networks. is there any app I can install to restore this function (ps, I don't want to have to open an app and search. I want the phone to alert me automatically).

    thanks

phone will automaticly connect to networks that are protected with password only when "he" knows them - remembered them from before. so i am afraid everytime there is pass locked network that you wanna use you first time you gotta go through settings mate. only open networks are able to be visible and popup on screen mate.

the villain rom has this feature built in so the functionality is possible. I'm running cyanogenmod and would prefer not to switch hence why I was looking for an app.
