I was in my local computer store and they are selling desktop coputers that are 2GB on offer but I'd like to have 4GB. I have a small business and would like faster internet download as well.

The lady said just insall the extra RAM, much cheaper. If this was a viable option then wouldn't everybody buy the cheaper computer and install extra RAM. There must be a catch doing but she she said there isn't.

Computer motherboards usually have four slots that you can put memory in. This computer probably has two slots filled with 1gb each of memory, leaving two spare.

It is very easy to put in memory, there are loads of videos online that will show you. Once you take reasonable care, you should be fine.

The memory isn't the only thing to look at. The processor, hard disk, disc drive, even included software should all be considered.

A faster computer won't make your internet go any faster, if the internet is actually slow. Software could have been slowing it down a bit I suppose, or a really underpowered pc.

The woman in the sop she'd install the extra RAM for me but the computer for 2GB is cheaper so why doesn't everybody just install extra RAM in the cheaper computer. Hard drive is 1TB with a dual core processor.

Adding 4G of Ram is not going to speed up your internet connection. Also you have to be sure the RAM you do buy is compatable with your PC. If your internet is slow then i would advise contacting your ISP who ever that maybe and getting that resolved first.

Most people do eventually upgrade their systems. Either themselves, or paying someone to do it. If you want to give the make, model, and price, I'm sure we could tell you whether it is a good deal or not.

Memory is easy to install, it's a reasonably cheap upgrade, and it can improve performance where memory was a bottleneck on a computer.

Wouldn't be so sure about that, the majority of desktops I've worked with recently only have 2 memory slots in total, but I do think 4GB would be a relatively cheap upgrade. Desktop for small business would be fine with 2GB (typically office apps and email anything else you would need more RAM and make sure you get rid of any unnecessary applications that come preinstalled).

Consumers want to just buy one out of the box, anybody with half an interest in PCs does exactly what your mentioned re. upgrading RAM, although they probably buy computer online for better deal.

An SSD drive for your OS is another great way for speeding things up, use the 1TB for storage of your data.

Slow internet connection that you refer to could be any number of things, and the new PC will probably perform the same (if it doesn't then you'll know it was software on the original computer that was the culprit).
