    Just got a Ford Fiesta Mk6 (2008) 5 door
Just looking to see what mods i can do to it
I've never modified any of my previous cars.
Just wondering what ideas you would have

    img0990aw.jpg

    img0995l.jpg

    img0991d.jpg

Might start with tinting the windows.
Can anyone recommend anyone good and not expensive in the Dublin/Meath area?
And some other things that can be done to the car (lowering etc)
    wouldn't know where to start

I've see. People put the same gen' Focus RS kit on and it seems to turn out nice.
I presume there's be a bit of work to be done altering it all the same.

Bigger wheels would look nice but nothing overly flashy, wouldn't really work on a car like that. Think the same style, just bigger.
I wouldn't go too mad on something like this. Less is more I reckon.

i agree. i dont want to go huge body kit.
just small changes along the way to give it a "sportier" look if you know what i mean.
I think the wheels are ok on. Already 16's on it.
Big compared to my last car which had a whopping 13's :D

Would love to see what it would be like lowered a bit.
Would a normal mechanic be able to do that or would you bring it somewhere specific

Thats the exact car I have, only thing I've done on mine is an induction kit and an air freshner man, if it was the 2 door I would have gone further, not worth it on the 4 door imo.

    stubby ariel (maybe)
    bonnet bra?
    wind deflectors

No one is going to buy a 08 modified Fiesta 5 door come resale its looks like an honest clean car keep it that way. only thing I would do is the sounds

thats one of the main reasons im not doing anything to mine, that and its a 4 door.

I can't see visual mods actually improving the overall look. Maybe lowering it, but it doesn't lend itself to mods.

Thanks lads appreciate the advice. I might lower it a small bit. I'm gonna go with light tints.( legal ones) :-)

gonna do the sounds as well

Just looking at this on the computer for the first time, couldn't see the car very well on my phone.
Agree with the others, all looks clean on it so there's no point in changing much and the 4 door wouldn't be ideal for mods.

As far as I remember, my mam's old Fiesta had a great sound system as standard.

The standard system in this exact model is superb from the factory with a double din sony head unit and uprated speakers, serious bass too,

    Yeah they're pretty good.
Gonna put a couple more at the back on the parcel shelf. just have to find the right ones

That's the thing. I didn't want to go too mad on the car. Just little changes. Nothing that would affect sell on/trade in in future.

I reckon slightly lowered. Light tints and some extra speakers and I'll be good.

Speakers put into parcel shelves always seem to find themselves in a heap.
Make you sure you do it right or don't do it at all.
If it were me, I'd just consider upgrading the speakers that are already there.
after 4 years of use they've probably seen a lot of use and could be damaged, I'd look into that before cutting holes in the parcel shelf.

Don't think they've had too much use. 1 previous (old) lady owner.
But youre right there is no point in doing it unless its done right. I wouldn't do it on the cheap

First thing to do is research. Judging by some of your above comments, your reletivly new to the game.

First things first, abuse the life out of google images. Everytime i get a new car, google refuses to work after 3 days, just an error message saying "F**k off, i'm tired".

If your lowering your car theres no need to go for bigger wheels of the same style. Get one can of primer, one anthracite / gunmetal grey and a can of clear. You'll have new, better looking more motorsport orientated wheels instantly. Total cost €20.

As for tints, i'd not bother.

Speakers wise, i wouldn't cut any 6x9's or others into your parcel shelf. A quick google will tell you the speaker diameter for the feshty. Upgrade the speakers in the original speaker slots. When you cut the parcel shelf it tends to sag and you'll have visible wires everywhere.

Your fiesta, lowered on -40mm springs all round with coloured wheels will give it a nice fresh look.

From here look into a badgeless grill. Smoked side repeaters and a can of black light tint. You could also swap out the front splitter for a nicer version with a little more depth.

I'll throw up a few pictures to show some of the things i'm talking about.

Badgeless grille. MY girlfriends astra G. I added nothing but a badgless grill and coilovers to the exterior besides the wheels. Their 8x15 Rh cups i bought off a lad in germany for €150.

    astraaa.jpg

My golf. Nothing used here but standard vw parts from other vw models and coilovers. Theres no sense (in my eyes) to spending extra on coilovers and not winding them down to the max. Even the wheels are standard 14" vw vento steel wheels, widened and painted with aerosols.

    028.jpg

My bmw: Again just lowered 40mm, bumpers from another model and some smoked front indicators.

My girlfriends Crx del sol. Nothing done here but a can of light tint spray. You can go as light or as dark as you please. I went dark. The bulbs still shine the correct colour through the tint, so no NCT/Garda issues.

    Tinted.jpg

As you can tell, i prefer the less is more approach. But you can still see that they are all noticably modified when compared to a standard version.

Just some food for thought. Oh.. and wheels aside, nothing i do costs me very much. That day has passed for the regular joe.

An under seat amplified subwoofer would be very effective.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

Under the seat would be cool, as long as there's not a massive pointless sub' taking up the whole boot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

They're quite useful, a bit more bass means you're not belting the arse out of the standard speakers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Compton

the head unit has no connections for a sub.
