3DS online connection issue

Having trouble getting online when I go to the friends list, it keeps saying you are currently offline, usually it would take about 5-10 seconds but it doesn't seem to be connecting at all now. The funny thing is that the eshop connects fine. Anyone else having this problem? I don't want this to persist when Mario Kart 7…

Everyone is having this trouble, I think it's do to with the update on mario 3dland which changes the friendslist a little.

Thanks, was worried my 3ds had become faulty somehow, or that it was to do with my wi-fi.
