....my learner permit expires in two months. Would the insurance company know when my learner permit expires and order me to send back my insurance disk, or would I just get be found out if I was involved in an accident?

I intend to renew my learner permit btw, just curious. :P

Why do you think you'd have to send back your insurance disk?

Would be insured for 12 months
Learner permit expires in 2 months

    Would they know?

Your number on the drivers license doesn't change, nor does it change when you get your full license... And your insurance usually isn't linked in any way to your license number

I don't think they will go looking for the cert back.
If you have a crash when the licence is expired however they may refuse to pay out.
You have plenty of time to renew your licence anyway. Send it off now and you should have it back inside of 3 weeks, won't be an issue with the insurance then :)

They won't. An insurer wouldn't refute a claim if you held an expired licence and there was no legal reason why you could not obtain another one. In saying that though, that's not an excuse to drive without one and you would be expedted to meet the other terms of your permit.

You don't have to have a current licence or permit to be insured, once , having had the licence or permit, you are not disqualified from driving.

Can we take it, as the holder of a permit, you always have a fully licensed driver accompanying you?

Just pass the test and prove to the world you are capable of being on the roads. If you AREN'T capable, then please stay off it, it's not a game
