    Hey All,

Like most young(ish)people I think I want to go to Oz for a year. Like many im going nowhere with work/life at the moment so obviously the grass is always greener. So I want to give it a shot before I cant go anymore and live with regrets. However, one thing is stopping me and its that I suffer with anxiety, Its really annoying me as this has held me back for years for not doing certain things and I dont want to look back over my life asking myself why I never did go just because Im scared of the "what if".
I dont know what im asking here really, just whether anyone else was ever in my situation and came out the other side?

that sound slike a great oppertunity!
it might be a good idea if you know someone who is going to australia in the next year or so as i'm sure there are plenty!
you could group together that way it won't be as daunting as you will have someone to be with. I know how daunting it can be going to a new place and trying to find everything out on your own.
Don't let anxiety and worries hold you back you better then that!! :)

I haven't been to Oz myself but have spent time living abroad. Don't let the anxiety or fear stop you going, I'm sure you know plenty of people already over there, and of all the people I know who've gone over there, very few disliked it or didn't enjoy their time there. Best of Luck :)

Go. There will always be "what if". Doing this will reinforce your belief in your own ability to deal with the unknown.

Definitely go! I studied in Australia for a year and travelled around SE Asia a few years ago and so glad I took the opportunity when I could. You have nothing to lose OP.

Some of the best advice I ever received was that you regret the things you don't do far more than what you do.

From reading your post it seems like you have a nothing to lose. I say go for it.

When you say anxiety, what exactly do you mean? Do you get nervous about certain things or do you have a very bad panic/anxiety disorder?

If it's the former then it is something that you can overcome...sure it's a big step to move away for a year but i'm sure you can get through it and reap the benefits.

If it's the later I would suggest you look at Cognitive Behavioural Therapy...it has helped me immensely and I had a crippling Panic Disorder.
