Wondering if anyone else has this problem. I've had UPC for 7 or 8 years now. Got UPC HD service 12 months ago, but only got a HD tv last month. It's doing this thing where the sound cuts out for half a second. It might do it every 10 seconds, and then maybe not for a half an hour. It's very short, and still not regular or frequent enough to be truly annoying, but .... well, it's new and I suppose shouldn't be happening.

Occasionally as well, the sound is out of sync. Sometimes only very slightly, sometimes very obviously. And this is on live tv, not recorded or paused etc.

I have a new (ish) black UPC box connected via HDMI cable to a philips LCD tv

Yes I have had the same problem.

Sky is overpriced and I hate them.
However if you want decent HD channels Sky is the only way to go.

I've the exact same problems with the sound jitters only after i connected using an HDMI cable - no problems with the scart.
I had to connect using the hdmi as my hd tv only has 1 scart cable and i need to connect the dvd player as well.
i have not contacted upc about this yet - i guess they will blame the tv or hdmi cable..
anyone being able to fix these sound jitters/cut outs?

Same as yourself, tv is connected via HDMi, not for the want of scarts or anything but I'm presuming a HD signal is only going to be faithfully reproduced through a hdmi cable, and not scart?

Anyway, I rang UPC, and they "boosted the signal" and it does seem to have remedied the problem for the moment.

Have noticed the same issue on our box. Have reported it a number of times but am going to ring them again tomorrow because it's actually worse then I had realised...

    Seeing both of these symptoms:
    - small packet drop-out (I'm saying packet here because the amount of audio missing is very small). Noticeable when watching music concerts / shows.
    - audio dropping out resulting in no audio for 5-10 secs .

I hadn't noticed the first one until we started watching some music concerts / shows earlier this week. It got annoying really fast. The second is intermittent and probably related to the first (drops enough packets that it then takes a few secs to re-sync).

Will follow-up and let you know what UPC decide to do.

Having the same problems - started acting up yesterday afternoon - philips TV and HD box connected via scart* - doing a reboot has solved the problem for the moment

*I wanted to record so had to use the Scart connection - UPC state you should never have the HDMI and Scart connected at the same time.

Hasn't remedied the problem actually just watching tv now for the first time in a while & it's still happening. Very brief, not 5 seconds, more like a half a second or even less, and quite infrequent, maybe every ten minutes or so at a very rough estimate.

The funny thing is if I rewind the live tv and reply, the missing audio IS actually there on replay! So it's not a signal issue as such, is it?
