I am looking for a laptop with a quad core CPU and a dedicated graphics card ati or nvidea for around 500 euro.
spent all day looking and all i could find was that intel chip for the graphics card which i think preforms poorly even in basic tasks.
Why are all the new laptops being sold with poor gpus these days.

I wouldn't call this a gaming laptop, but it's got everything you asked for :)

But seriously, you won't get a gaming laptop on that budget.
You won't get a quad core Intel CPU
You won't get a decent dedicated GPU

What will you be using this laptop for? I assumed gaming, but if we had a bit more info we might be able to give you some proper advise.

You'll never find a laptop with a quad core and dedicated graphics for €500. You may find an AMD Fusion laptop but to be quite honest their CPUs are pathetically underpowered.

You'll have to up your budget to around €750 to get dedicated graphics and a Sandybridge Quad Core.

As an aside, Intel's HD 3000 that comes with Sandybridge CPUs isn't half bad. You could run most new games on low-medium on it and it'd be somewhat playable.

There's a Lenovo Z570 for sale in PC World for €580.

i3 processor, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, 1GB dedicated Nvidia graphics. Looked good to me!

    No no no!

The 520m is an awful card. If you see it with the 540m then that is good, but I've mostly seen the 520m. The 520m is slower than 90% of 512mb cards made in the past 3 years.

This seems a good compromise, performs similar to gt 540m and even lower price:

    Sorry of this seems silly
    But honest question
Why not buy a game console for gaming and a laptop for other stuff ?

Coz l33t gamers use PC :D

Seriously though, like everything else, depends on the person and their uses.
I'm not a big gamer, but use my laptop all the time for other stuff, gaming is just a bonus.
So for me spending €300~ for a dedicated gaming machine whatever it may be is a bit of a waste.
Spending extra on a new laptop means I will get more power for other things that I use it for,
plus I get the ability to game when I want to.

Other benefits would be better control with keyboard and mouse for certain games.
You can bring your laptop to your friends house to play with them, or on a train, basically more mobile.
And finally if you are willing to spend, since all current consoles are quite old, you can get a gaming PC or laptop that can produce better graphics and games will loads faster etc.

Would you mind getting back to us when you get it? Just a quick review of how it runs etc and what the exact specs are, because the ones stated on the site have me a bit confused. Thanks.
