Where to buy a penny-farthing?

Does anybody know somewhere in Dublin where I might be able to get ahold of a full size penny-farthing?

Do you want to buy one to use or is it just for a short period to use as a prop or something?
If it's short term I'm pretty sure there's a bike shop near Smithfield/Stoneybatter that has one in their window, not sure of the name of the shop though!

No, I want to buy one. I fancy cycling up and down Clontarf promenade on it.

Hmm, there a few websites taht sell them, but they're expensive. The shipping would be really pricey too, I would expect. I'll keep my eyes peeled for ads for second hand penny-farthings for sale... but I think I might be waiting a while. I'm surprised there aren't more of them around, I think they're the coolest mode of transport there is.

Hmm, you are an odd person!
After the invention of the safety bicycle they went out of favor and that was over a hundred years ago so it might be hard trying to find one, there was some company making smaller ones about five years ago or at least that's the last time I saw one around, they may still be making them.
But there is an awefull lot of undiscovered gems in sheds and barns in this country so keep searching, I just found a Triumph jack of spades bike that was in a church basement for thirty years, so you never know.

What kind of nick is the Triumph in? Is it a Jack of Clubs? You planning on selling it?

They're still raced in the UK in places like Knutsford (if you wanna look up YouTube). Ive only ever seen one come up for sale in Ireland in the last couple of years and it was still huge money.

Pete Mathews in Santry Dublin 9 should be able to either supply or source one for you. He has a cycle museum and still rides one himself. He doesn't seem to be listed in the directory but he distributes his business card at meetings. I might see him next Sunday and will ask for you.

It is indeed a jack of clubs, not sure where the spades came from but probably the bottom of the bottle of vino I had consumed last night!
It's not in good nick at all but maybe a long term project for me,it'll have to wait until I get the 1952 Rudge/Whitworth up and running though.
