PRSI and company director

A retired teacher with an occupational pension takes on a position as a director in a new company. He earns approx 1000 euro per annum as an employed tutor and pays tax and PRSI onthese earnings. Is any PRSI due from the directorship position where he will be earning below the 3000+ limit.
