    Hiya,

How much is a complete copy of this game worth for the megadrive? I'm selling off some stuff but not sure what price I should sell mine for? Ebay is varied anywhere between 15 and 50 along with some mad buy it now prices.
   .

    Thanks

I say do the world a favour and throw that game in the nearest skip!
Otherwise stick it on Adverts and see what offers you get.
No sales here, needless to say, but we do exchanges in the trade forum here.

Your having a laugh it's a great game, one of my favourites on the megadrive.

If it was me I'd take an average from ebay and add on a few quid to counter the inevitable silly low bids on adverts.

/Edit: Just wondering, would it be handy to have a "What's it worth?" thread where folk can ask for guide prices from folks in the know?

Personally I've never been in to the Streets Of Rage games, though I can see the appeal of them. I can't stand fighting games a la Street Fighter etc but I love a good side scrolling beat em up.

If you are in the market for a different series in the future, may I recommend Crest Of Wolf on the PC Engine. Super fun game! :)

HAHA! Sorry but it's the truth. I've never really seen the appeal of them. I liked Street Fighter II to a certain extent back in the day but I've never really gone out of my way to play the genre since.

By any chance does your Streets of Rage 2 have a blue labeled cart? That version is pretty rare and worth a few euro. The standard one is worth about €15.

Streets of Rage 2 has some of the biggest and best sprites of the 16 bit generation. It also has one of the greatest chiptune soundtracks ever made.

The gameplay might not be to some peoples tastes, but the game itself is a masterpiece. Anyone who says otherwise is either a (cider)troll or just has no taste. :p

So is it okay to like it? What about Streets of Rage 1 on hardest?

I may have just soiled myself at this post....
Although it may have been earlier at someones post about DKC, you know that Retr0 is unwell when someone sings the praises of DKC on the Snes and he doesn't get stuck in... Something very wrong indeed... He may have been replaced by Pod People, it would explain his purchase of some Halo games recently!

No it's not, what is so special about a blue labeled one?

If you don't play Streets of Rage on the hardest difficulty level then you have no right to criticise it, just like nobody has any right to criticise Halo for when they didn't play it on legendary. Anyone like myself that has played Halo on legendary and still criticises it is obviously lying! :P

Just so's there to take-backsies later...

I don't know what the attempted alien invasion of your arm has done to your old personality, but your taste in games has certainly improved!
Could it be that love of japanese dating sims has also been alleviated?
Must be some interaction between your bacteriological infection, the drugs you're on and the little known game centre of the brain... apparently Apple are currently suing God over the use of that term, reckon they got the rights to it first!!

Working through the streets of rage catalog again (and Golden Axe); the intro music from 1 alone is enough to warrant digging out my old tv.

Any recommendations for anything more recent in the genre?

The arcade game Aliens Versus Predator. Best game in the genre! Another arcade one worth checking out is Golden Axe, The Revenge of Death Adder. Neither got home ports, so you'll have to run them in MAME.

    And both are brilliant games.

Still remember the first time I saw the little video of the fellas turning to stone in revenge of death adder

Notice, please, how my new medication regimen allows me to read Street of Rage loving posts and not react in a sensible and un-rosetinted bespectacled manner....

    Don't push it though!

Streets of Rage 2 batters Final Fight with a lead pipe and then eats and apple to celebrate. There's no contest!

I'm also very fond of Super Double Dragon. The sprites aren't as big and nice as Streets of Rage, and it's pretty slow in comparison. But still a great game. Also love the soundtrack in that one too.

Streets of Rage 2 was a fcking awesome game and proof of the superiority of the 90s over any other decade. The level where you're on Mr.X's grounds is remniscent of the cover for ICE T's Original Gangster album, which is another reason to like it. The whole game is masterpiece, has a great story and excellent playable characters. And Blaze was hot. I rest my case.

Streets of Rage 3 had much better game mechanics, but had some uninteresting character designs and bosses compared to 2.

It would have been a good game to rival 2 if they'd left it the same are Bare Knuckle 3 and didn't censor the feck out of it. Ash is one of the greatest boss characters between all three games :pac:

The music did take a big turn for the worst though, which really impacts the game badly. The character select music makes my ears bleed. And don't get me started on the night club level music!

Rather than compose it normally, they programmed a 'random note generator' to make it instead. Really bad move there.

I'm really really fighting the urge to comment....

It's like waving an Edge review in front of Retr0, so easy to do, so satisfying but will always end in tears!

Streets of Rage 2 is possibly the greatest 16 bit game ever made. Definitely better than anything Nintendo put out in that generation. Super Mario World me arse.
