Interesting video on why horses might open mouth when ridden

The bit is only as harsh as the hand that uses it, this also includes bitless/Dr Cook as they work on pressure on the poll.

The video conveniently ignores different types of thickness/shape of the bit in relation to the conformation of the horses mouth. Aids that are used in riding are also left out .

The horse is best to be treated as an individual, what works for one be that bitted/bitless, shod/unshod may not work for another.

    agreed!
its like expecting us as humans to all communicate the same way,or to have the same language-it wont happen, just as bitting vs bitless, barefoot vs shoed etc is as unique for our friends.
look at how beginners who ride a horse will yank the reigns to halt them which jabs the mouth, over time they can become resistant to the bit.
riding instructors shoud be teaching seat aids to all riders really as they take a lot of the strain off the bit and reigns.
