Am getting a lot of bounce backs to my email account. This stared when I got a new laptop.

I set my outgoing SMPT as mail1.eircom.net and I can send myself a test email but if I try anyone else it bounces back . Does anyone know what the EIRCOM or IOL server for outgoing is called? THis server works for incoming.

Esentially I want to use my normal email address to send and receive emails

The outgoing SMTP server has to be the one belonging to your ISP, the incoming server is the one belonging to your email supplier e.g. Eircom, IOL, Google, Microsoft etc.

For the setting look on your ISP provider's website.

Off the questions page on the Q Sat website

I am unable to send emails since I signed up to Qsat. Do I need a new outgoing mail server?

    A. Yes, The outgoing mail server you need to use is smtp.qsat.ie and you should make sure the port used is port 25.

This will work for sending the mails.
I would strongly reccomend upgrading Outlook Express to the new Windows Live Mail. Outlook Express has many security flaws and is common source for people getting infected via various JavaScript attacks which is just one example. Windows Live Mail will import all your emails/account details etc and I would reccomend you download and install it (its free)

When i try to change outgoing address I get a screen saying

Server type there are five options
    Microsoft exchange Server
    POp3
    IMAP
    HTTP
    Additional Server Types

I choose POP 3 as I recollect that is the one set up for me previously.

I then move to a screen that says set up new account as well as asking for your name and email address it asks for

incoming mail server (POP3) I put mail1.eircom.net here
outging mail server (SMPT) I put smtp.qsat.ie

but this still did not work

    Any further thoghts please?

Are you sure you typed smtp not smpt. Also is the outgoing port set to 25 and that the 'My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication' is not checked.

What message do you get when you click on the test account settings?

Also if you set up a new account did you enter your email address and password correctly?

I think you need to get on to Qsat tech support (I presume this is your ISP - seen as you are using their SMTP servers). Everything looks OK, unless they use server authentication or a different port number... which I would doubt
