I was told before that he uses hot water so the boots mould to the shape of his feet when he uses them.

Its the most logical explanation I've heard since seeing those pictures.

That's fine when you can have a new pair every match or every half if you want. Might not be recommended for people who can't afford this though (i.e. non professional footballers).
