My desktop died the other day so I managed to borrow a laptop off a friend, the laptop is about seven years old.My friend told me that the battery was bad but to keep it plugged in and it would work grand.Worked away fine for the first night I had it but when I went to use it yesterday it wouldn't power up, all thats happening is the battery light turns green for a few seconds and then flashes amber.
I don't know much about laptops as I always use a desktop..can anyone tell me what might of happened here? so I can explain when I hand it back!

Stuck in sleep mode? Has it been plugged out of the wall since last night?

It has, shut it down as normal ,unplugged it, left it overnight and when I plugged it back in it wouldn't start..it lights up for a second then goes to the flashing amber light ?

Try powering it without the battery inserted.

seems as though its not gettin any power from the power cable either. The fact that its gettin somethin when the battery is in could mean its tryin to rely on that alone whih could be giving you the blinking light. This could mean the power jack on he laptop could be nackerd. That could also be why the battery wasnt charging all that well either. Do you know anyone with the same kind of laptop you could try charge the battery on?
