Anyone know any remedies for a seized freewheel?
My freewheel has completely seized up and is making cycling a very interesting experience. It's a bit like having a 27 gear fixie :(.

Is that the RS10s which I sold you? If so, do a thorough check on it and send me on all of the details. I'll then forward those details on to the crowd which I bought my bike from and we'll see what we can do from there.

No, it's the original 4ZA wheel. Right now I'm very happy I bought the RS10s :D

what kind of hub is it? loose bearings or sealed? tbh your probably better off just getting a new hub, unless its like >100 euro hub in which case you could get it serviced

It's branded as 4za but I've no idea other than that. I got it to spin a little bit but it was still locking up more often than not. Dropped it around to my LBS this afternoon. Will see how it goes from there.

they should sort you out, probably just replace it as loose bearing hubs are cheap and a sealed bearing hub with a seized freewheel would probably cost a nice bit to get serviced so why bother :D

It's all part of the after-sales service. RT66 was a pleasure to deal with so why not?

Still, nice to see someone being decent about potential problems. Fair play to ya!

@OP, the 4za wheels (ridley's in house brand) tend to be easily serviceable bearings, so most bike shops should sort you out fairly lively.

LBS (Richies) sorted it out. It had seized with rust, but all ok now. The best bit? Me: How much do I owe you? Richie: Nothing, it's all part of the service. :D
