How much is your eye worth? Golf Insurance

Seriously, as a golfer, think about that.

A court case in the UK has decided it's worth £400,000

It's a tough predicament to be in - from either side (the guy losing the eye, to the guy hitting the ball) - so how many people here have insurance to cover such eventualities? It might come with your annual sub, and you you might even know it!

Just wondering how many cases have there been of this nature in say past 20years or was this just a freak accident, a bit like taking out insurance against getting hit by lightning.

Dr. Bob has a lot to answer for....
Lord Brailsford found that primary liability for the incident rested with Mr Gordon, saying he had been over-confident in his ability to hit a good shot that day.

I did read that and this idea of a judge saying that someone was "over-confident in his ability to hit a good shot that day" is comical. If Tiger Woods can hit a snap hook, so can a hacker with a handicap of 96.

When was the last time anyone stood on the tee before hitting their shot and said: "Oh crap, I'm going to hit a snap hook and take out that group of golfers 150 yards away." If you didn't have any confidence you'd never play the game.

Tell that judge to go home and play with his marbles.
