Are there really so few Wii/Zelda fans in this country? Granted the game has only been out a few hours but I had expected a bit more Boards activity around it. Just listening to the Orchestra CD here to get me psyched up before I drop the game in!! Epic!!!!! Would have liked more OoT music on the CD though.

I ordered mine online through Game, and it was delivered two days ahead of schedule.

Only about 2 hours in so far, but so far so good!

Hmm, I'm in two minds on getting it today as getting Mario in a little bit.
If I can find mario for €40 and Zelda for €60 with the gold wiimote I may take the plunge, argh, dont know!!!!!

Also as someone said yesterday re not much hype about Mario, its due to that there is so many mario games out that people just dont care, 'maybe' its the same for Zelda?

Also there are a lot of new games coming out over this week and last for 360/ps3 so prob getting overshadowed a lot.

It's the season of wallet rape for games. I'd say they're just being overshadowed.

I love Zelda myself but have had to put off buying this as I've too many other good games on the go. Just trying to see if I can even afford to pick up Mario after work today.

Mine has just been delivered to me in work, then it's off immediately after work to be props manager backstage at a play, and then, finally, home to play it :D

Ah Gandorf's balls: The Wiimote version is pre-order only. I had a number of opportunities to order it but didn't realise that it was a pre-order version. Oh well, the OH probably won't really care.

Your OH prob won't thank me for this :D, but Smyth's happily sold me a Wiimote copy over the counter at lunchtime without any preorder malarkey.

Their tradein values were pretty good too, so got the game for €38 whilst getting rid of old copies Wii Fit, Nintendogs and Wario Smooth Moves. Happy camper. :pac:

    Anyone notice the part where
the goron is talking about the metallic goddess cube and he says he 'whaled' on it but nothing happened? I always thought it was 'Wailed' on, but apparently whaled on is the right way to spell it

    Zelda: educational AND fun!!!

I'm not the mod here, just pointing it out is all :)

Dying to play it, just have to resist it for another 5 weeks :(

They also still have the bundle with the wii remote on Amazon.co.uk if it's sold out in regular shops/other online shops & don't mind waiting a few days.

Never bothered getting a Wii, but the acclaim Skyward Sword has garnered made me decide to pick one up now (a very late adopter!)

I also plan to pick up Resident Evil IV (never played it on any format), Metroid Prime: Corruption, both Mario Galaxy games, Twilight Princess, and maybe a few other things. Not the most inspiring back catalogue in console history, but I'm still looking forward to reacquainting myself with Nintendo's major franchises!

kinski: might want to get some component cables too

    Old article but still relevant.

Best time to get the Wii is now, end of its life, but there are so many great games for the Wii that are amazing that are not so well known so you have a lot to catch up on!

One I am playing at the moment, 'A Shadows Tale', came out last year I think, here is a link to it on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Konami-A-Shadows-Tale-Wii/dp/B003P0XOKK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322045154&sr=8-1 as I have never seen it around Dublin shops.

I'd say take a look at Madworld, House of the Dead Overkill, Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 2 and Blazing Angels if you can get 'em - all great fun, with RS2 & NMH2 in particular being a great demonstration of what the WiiMote Plus can do.

There are also some great older-platform games available on the Wii Shop too, alongside a few excellent indie games (like the Bit Trip games, Zombie Panic in Wonderland, Rush, World of Goo, And Yet It Moves).

    I'll do this again:

    Muramasa: The Demon Blade
    Ghost Squad
    Tatsunoko vs Capcom
House of the Dead: 2 & 3 return
    Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns

Amongst quite a surprising few. There's more, should you need anymore unsolicited recommendations from me.

I can't believe no one mentioned Donkey Kong Country Returns, New Super Mario Bros Wii and Mario Kart Wii.

Glad to see I'm not the only person who likes both of those - hours of great lightgun fun to be had with both of 'em :)

TBH I didn't bother with DKR because, having re-visited the SNES original years after its release, it's aged rather badly in a way that Super Mario All Stars, for example, hasn't.

NSMB is IMO a game that works best if you've played 20 years worth of preceding Mario games and recognize all the callbacks to those games that it contains, otherwise it's just a bit meh.

I never bothered with Mario Kart Wii because I've still got Double Dash and was unlikely to get enough multiplayer action to make the Wii version worth getting.

Hijacking the thread a bit more - any decent racing game recommendations outside of Mario Kart? There's only so much I can play my GC versions of F-Zero and NFS: Most Wanted :(

I was trying to stick strictly with 3rd party titles. Aside from that, DKCR is a massive whopper of a game. Balls hard for those who need it to be and piss easy for the more casual player. Such a joyous gaming experience.

I'm not a fan of NSMB, too big and empty as a single player experience. Multiplayer alright for a bit of a chaotic novelty session, but I found myself waiting for the game to appear after an hour or so. I think DCKR provides a similar experience, but with a lot more meat beyond the fancy bits.
