Hi there just wondering if someone could give me some info. I am applying for a ce scheme have to go to social welfare tomorrow and hand in the eligibility form. Just wondering what happens next? if i am deemed eligible do i just go for an interview in the company or do i have to do interviews with social welfare and fas as well? Also how likely is it that someone that is unemployed longer than me would get the place over me? does it work that way or just depend on the individual and their experience/interest? thanks for any help

iv done a ce scheme first you need to go for an interview with fas to see if your allowed

then you just look on the fas website in your area and see whats going and give them a ring

not sure how it works its up to the places you ring to give you a ce scheme but i no if you have done one before someone who hasn't will get one first

First check with FAS if you are eligible for a c.e. scheme. You normally have to be 12 months unemployed or be in certain other categories.

If eligible then you can source a job your interested in and apply. And then wait and hope you get called for an interview with whatever company it is.

If you get offered a position and you happen to be on Disability Allowance or Invalidity Pension then you have to get permission to take up the offer from social welfare before you begin work.

You can do it either way. You can apply for the position and wait to be successful in the interview before getting the necessary forms stamped by the Department of Social Protection (if you're doing it this way, you should check carefully that you meet the criteria so you're not wasting your time).

Or you can get the form from FAS and get it stamped by the Department before attending interviews. This can be equally a waste of time, if you don't end up getting selected at the interview, and if it takes a while for you to get a place, then you might end up having to get the form stamped again anyway.

There is no interview required with the Department of Social Protection or FAS, its just a matter of meeting the criteria and getting the form stamped by the DSP. If you're on OPFP or Jobseekers, then its just a matter of having been on the payment for a length of time, if you're qualifying from a disability based payment, you need your exemption from the Department before you can start as above poster states.
