just wondering if i will be able to use it for astrophotography even though i won't have any motor drives for the time being anyway. can i turn a knob that tracks a star with precision to get long exposures?

i more than likely will get a motor drive later on but until then would it be suitable?

    Long Exposure Astrophotography....No.

You'll need good Polar Alignment and a good RA motor.

Webcam captures (for planetary imaging)....Yes. But RA motors are relatively cheap!

I got my CG5 RA motor for about €50 (I think) on FleaBay :)

    Clear skies,

thanks, well at least the motors aren't too expensive:) i am half thinking of making a barn door mount for the long exposures - reckon its a cheaper alternative now:)
