A close relative has just been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and him being a lifelong Porsche fan I would like to try and find one for hire for a day or two and take him on a road trip. Does anyone know of a company or individual who could help to make this happen, ideally east coast?

Probably better off bringing him to the UK for a sportscar track experience as nothing here worth talking about, if at all.

Real sad news though man. :(

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Sorry to hear that, poor fella. Depending on the financial situation, Avis in Germany hire out the 911 for not too daft money if you rent mid-week rather than weekends. The advantage of Germany is that you could visit the Porsche and Merc museums in Stuttgart and then blast down to Munich in the Porsche at 180mph and visit BMW and the Science museum. It'd be a fab holiday and flights to there aren't that expensive.

Great to see people still help, good man Galwaytt.

I had a spin of a Porsche Cayman S 320bhp a few weeks ago, I drive a 300bhp Mazda 3 MPS and the Cayman was so much better.

They way it opens up at 4500rpm was class, torque and horsepower seemed to just blast together, I dropped it into third a few times at high revs and it was biblically fast, pedals are perfect, loved the seats and gearbox as well, my mazda's one felt like **** after driving it.

    I will own one someday:D

Sounds fantastic, he's just out of hospital so doubt he would be able for all the traveling though. This whole thing has been a wake up call, if there is something you want to do, don't put it off.

    Any link for that Tea.

I've been to germany a few times but have only had small petrols ( Mini Cooper 1.6), diesel Volvo and BMW 320d.

Really sorry to hear about that but fantastic that you're looking to help out.

Not sure if this is really what you're looking for but I've done the Porsche driving experience and Rally School Ireland and it's great, beautiful 911 and they let you open it up and drive it really hard with full instruction.

    Edit:

here's a video showing the Porsche on track there:

Has to be a track day in the UK if he is up for it.

For 1k he would get this.

4 Laps driving the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder
4 Laps driving the Porsche 997 Turbo
4 Laps driving the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
4 Laps driving the Ferrari 430 Spyder
4 Laps driving the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
4 Laps driving the Ferrari 599 Fiorano
4 Laps driving the Aston Martin V8 Vantage
4 Laps driving the Aston Martin DBS
4 Laps driving the Audi R8
4 Laps driving the Ariel Atom
High speed passenger ride driven by the instructor

Murcielago, 599, Atom, I would love that, what a day that would be.

Just go to avis.ie, rental country Germany, select a date, and scroll down to the bottom. Was going to attach a pic, but don't seem to have the option. 911 is around 680 for 3 days.

    Edit - found attach button!
