Sika, red and elk(wapiti) can all interbreed.
Has anyone ever heard of fallow interbreeding with any other species of deer

Know what the Americans call Elk(wapiti) is a cousin of the red, much bigger though, got a hunt in Montana some years back.

But the Sika mating with an elk made me think of an scene in the pub in Glen-row years ago where they were discussing how the feck did that wee Jack Russel manage to mate with so and so's greyhound.

Sorry, off thread. No have not heard of fallow interbreeding with any other species of deer

Fallow can only cross with Persian fallow, can't cross with sika or red as they are a different sub species, red, sika and wapiti are all of the cervidae strain and fallow don't mix with that for whatever reason
