Spelling all wrong in OS X

I'm on Lion. My spelling is all wrong - I seem unable to change it from US English spelling to UK English spelling. I went into System Settings/Language & Text/ and changed it to 'British English'.

So basically everything, including MS Word, is in US spelling.

    Am I doing something wrong?

I did. No luck. And it happens in other edit windows, like this browser. If I write 'colour', it tells me it's wrong, but when I write 'color' it tells me I'm right, even though I've set my preference as 'British English'.

Thanks, but it's still not working. Any ideas?

Go to System Prefs > Languages & Text. Click on the Languages tab and drag British English to the top. Then click on the Text tab and select British English in the Spelling menu

In Microsoft Word you have to select UK English in Tools > Languages and make it default. However, this will only apply to new documents. To apply it to an existing Word document you will have to select all text, then go to Tools > Languages, choose UK English and click OK.

No change where? Doing the above will work in Word and in the rest of the system.

    Well, neither has. Believe me.
