I want to repeat a wireless signal around the house which is coming the main incoming signal using a netopia router. Do I need another netopia router to repeat the signal or can I just do it with an router??

I have found repeating a wireless signal is not reliable and you are much better with 2 seperate access points. If you have the wireless router at the front of the house, it would be better to use 2 homeplugs to make a connection to the rear of the house and setup a seperate access point using a different wireless channel.

Use NetStumbler on a laptop and see if you can see the used channels in your neighbourhood. Channels 1, 6 & 11 do not overlap so try to set your wireless router to one of those with the least number of users on it and then set the second wireless access point to one of the other channels that don't overlap. Unfortunately you'll probably see some eejit using channel 4 and causing interferance on both 1 & 6 but this can't be helped.

I don't know if you'll be able to do this yourself, but you could get the homeplug and wireless access points beforehand if you know what your buying, and then get someone else to configure it for you. Setup the 2 access points on any computer/laptops you use and you'll be able to roam from one to the other.

    Hope this helps
