Osteitis Pubis Injury - me again!
Just for information I have had an MRI scan done which has confirmed this is indeed my injury - it's not me playing a guessing game or anything like that. Advice giving from sports doctor was that I could run easy on it once it wasn't causing any further pain/discomfort and advice from a physio was for complete rest/icing and anti-inflammatory tablets for 2 weeks or so etc. In my PREVIOUS post I was just wondering had any of the posters on this board ever had same injury & if so what rehab they had and how long did the injury take to heal - it was nothing more sinister then that!confused.gif

Brownian presently has this injury according to his log.

Maybe you should have a chat with him and compare notes.

I can only tell you my own story with the injury. I suffered it during the summer of 2010. the theory was that it happened because I had poor core stability and that the tear between the pubic bone and pelvic wall occurred on a fast descent. It got steadily worse throughout the summer but I tried to ignore it. When it did not get better after two days post-season rest in August I got the diagnosis made and was told that 3 months was a normal recovery curve but that any further worsening could have cost me 6-18 months on the sidelines.

I went into a core strengthening programme with Medfit and worked with a fucntional movement specialist to sort it out. I also has some lasering done at the Laser Clinic. I healed the injury completely in two months which the physio was very positively surprised by and was back running and training hard that November. It has never recurred in the year since.

Cheers for that, am back with the physio today so will see what she said. The MRI result stated that is was only "Mild Osteitis Pubis" so I'm hoping it won't take too long to heal. Apparently it can be an overuse injury also. Am working on my core already and have been icing daily and taking anti-inflammatory tablets too!

Maybe drop rob heffernan a message on his new sitehttp://robandmarianheffernan.com/

He had it twice on both sides.Nearly sure he got it from doing too much core.
I know that he trained through the injury up until the surgery and then when returning hadn't lost too much fitness.

Is that the same injury that Chamney had early in the year also?
