Changing boot partition in Windows 7

I'm trying to change the boot partition in Win7.

My boot partition is originally C: (40GB), but at the end of the drive and near full. The rest of the drive was file storage but not full.

I created another partition (J:) (70GB) at the start of the drive and copied C: with Easeus partition master. I then used "bcdboot" to move the boot files across.

I restarted and it still boots in C:.

I'm not overly familiar with the boot process and most of what I've done has just been Google-fu.

Tell me where I went wrong?

Lucky me, bcdboot only shows errors in verbose mode

    C:\Users\Patrick>bcdboot c/windows /v /s J:
BFSVC: Failed to validate boot manager checksum (c/windows\boot\PCAT\bootmgr)!
    Error code = 0xc1
Failure when attempting to copy boot files.

I'm booted into J now it seems, but I can't change drive letters for either of the drives.
