I am trying to set this up for someone. The TV can pick up MPEG2 but not MPEG4 so Soarview channels with sound no picture. They had all the terrestrial channels including the English ones. They also could pick up a number of channels on the free to air like FILM4 (Built in Freeview HD).

Now with the set top box all that its picking up with the Aerial connected is the Irish Soarview channels ? Anyone explain why please ?

I don't think so but I could be wrong I am pretty new to this stuff. I thought since the TV already had the Freeview HD built in that a combi box wouldn't be required ? Isn't it just Freeview HD/Soarview receiver rolled into one unit ?

If you are within range of FreeView (South-East or Border region) an MPEG2 set will show channels such as Film4. If it is FreeView HD you should also get BBC1 HD, BBC HD etc. A FreeView HD set should also show Saorview without a box.

It does do all this but shows the Saorview channels with sound no picture. Now with the box added all it shows is the Saorview Channels with sound and picture but no other channels.
