Got rear ended yesterday and I think cars a write off. Both AA guys said it be very unlikely to be repairable and when I removed the boot mat I came to the same conclusion but would like to get an estimate to repair the car because I've grown very fond of it. :o

Can't move the car as bumper and chassis is against the wheels so was wondering if anyone in the business lives near Dalkey and could do me a favor! :p

Rover 25 01. I know economically theres no point repair it but my heart says repair it!

Yep was a fair whack. Had something on the parcelshelf which ended up beside me. Can't open the boot. Ill upload a picture actually. Might be able to get a rough estimate.

Economically it wouldn't be worth repairing it. Cost far more then what the car is actually worth.

The worrying thing is I'm still considering it
Would anyone take a stab at an estimate. Hopefully to knock some sense into me.

It sounds like the best advice anyone could give you is to say goodbye to the car and negotiate as good an insurance settlement as you can.:)

From those pictures it is not worth repairing, I would advise you to start looking for a new car and forget about this one. The cost will be more than the car was worth before the crash.

Your car is worth about 1200 in good condition. I'd hazard to guess that the repair would cost similar. The damage to the well of the boot indicates potentially more issues than cosmetic damage.

If you like the car why don't you take the payment from the insurance and find a mint rover 25 of the same age.

Op I know of 04 Rover 25 for a little over 2 grand, and to be honest with you, that looks beyond repair.

You have to remember that even if someone did repair that, you would nearly have to cut off the arse of another 25 and weld it on, the safety of the car is going to be comprimised.

    It's not worth doing.

Heart still says go for it but think my head will win this one.

Im devastated. Only had car 8 weeks and I've never been so attached to a car before. Was NCT'd until 2013 so will the assessor take that into account? Also Head Gasket, Water Pump and thermostat changed at 80,000 miles and new backbox installed at 82,000 miles (It only has 83,000 now)

No, they just take the car into account.

But surely, the idea is I am in the same situation before and after accident. So they'd need to take into account the stuff otherwise I'm at a disadvantage or is that wishful thinking. Because the NCT would have quite an effect on the value of my car.

You just need to argue your case with the insurance company. If you get back what you paid for it regardless what was spent after you purchased.

Does anyone know how long it takes for a assessor to come out to view the damage. Got a text on Thursday from RSA saying Assess Ireland will send an assessor but haven't heard anything since. Would like to get this sorted asap
