RI refund vouchers

Hello, I wonder if you can help. I received a refund from RE in the form of vouchers, it says I can only use them to purchase tickets from a station, cannot be converted to cash either. I normally buy my tickets online because of the cheaper fares so I can't imagine how I will be able to use these within the 12 months…
