What components are more important to run Skype and Youtube

    Hi folks,

I'm buying a Netbook for basic browsing. This can include a fair bit of time on Youtube. Also, about 3 or 4 times a week, we'll make video calls (2/3hrs long) with Skype.
The netbook I'm considering includes 1GB of RAM and an N570 processor.

My question might be a silly one but here it is...when using Skype or Youtube, is it the processor or the RAM or a bit of both that perform the 'swan trick' :) (ye know that saying how the swan appears to glide effortlessly along the surface while the legs paddle like mad beneath).

If I find out the answer to this, if need be, I could focus my search on netbooks with maybe 2GB of RAM...or a better processor.

Or will the netbook I mention above be sufficient for my needs. Any advice much appreciated!

That one will do the job, just buy some more ram later on for it, ram is very cheap these days.

I've narrowed my search down to the following HP and Asus.

    http://asia.cnet.com/product/hp-pavilion-dm1-amd-fusion-e-450-processor-165ghz-45630072.htm
Includes an AMD E-450, 4GB of RAM and AMD Radeon HD 6320 graphics card

Includes an 1.8GHz Atom D525, 2GB of RAM and nVIDIA graphics card

I'm leaning towards the HP but am also reading good reviews of the nVIDIA ION 2 graphics card. I don't intend gaming but am looking for a device that's least likely to hang/freeze when video calling with skype.

If anybody owns/has used either of these, please feel free to throw me your 2 cents.

Why did you start a whole new thread for this? You could have just carried on in the one you made earlier!

    Anyway, the Hp is better.
