Classic Army M15A4

As above I have a classic army M15A4 sportsline (my 1st AEG), I broke the body on it a few months back, have a few different AEG's now but I wanna go back to an armalite. So decided I wanted to keep this AEG as a project gun so I undertook my first project which was to replace crappy plastic body with a shiny metal one:D. Which I think I did succesfully (pats himself on back!!! - Big accomplishment I burn toast in a toaster!!!:D:D).
But alas when it was all assembled I couldnt get the gun to fire so I assumed the battery was dead as it had been lying up for months, so I charged it and next day I plugged in the battery and it worked and sounded fine - well chuffed I was.
Anyway brought it skirmishing sunday and I lent it to a friends friend to get him interested in airsoft and halfway through the day he comes back tells me the battery is flat, so I change it out for another one and nothing!! Four batteries later and it still doesnt work?
Was wondering what could cause this? Was told it could possibly be the motor as when I first set up I reckon I had connections on wrong? or the fuse? or .....

More than likely the 'friends friend' would have keeped trying to fire as the battery ran down, this will more than likely have caused the gearbox to lock up as the piston is know in mid cycle, and none of the new battery have enough power to overcome the static tension already in the system.

I would take the lower and upper receiver apart and see if the piston is towards the rear of the gearbox, if it is then it is more than likely locked up. To unlock it you can try a couple of things..

Attach a higher power battery to jump start the cycle and overcome the static tension, maybe an 11.1 or something, be aware that you will need to keep the aeg on semi as you do not want to go fully auto if it frees up and shred the gearbox.

Another option is to user a small but long screwdriver or simple rod to push down the nozzle and push the piston back a little bit allowing you to spring the gears round and reset the gearbox

Ok will most definately try it. Dont have an 11.1 but have a 9.6? would be afraid of shredding gears and pitons etc so will probably try your other way of relieving the tension. Does the whole gearbox have to come out or can it stay in the lower receiver?

As long you`ll remove the motor, you can easily try with gearbox in the lower receiver. However, you may need to use wide flat head to move the bevel gear mechanically, so you may need to remove pistol grip.

just slit the upper and lower receiver after that no need to remove the motor, if you have access to a long thin screw driver or rod you will be able to thread it down the air nozzle and push the piston back, if you do not have something thin enought to do down the nozzle you can also remove the motor as maciek87 mentioned

If you remove the motor and pistol grip, you can use a small hook to release the AR latch.

@Puding: Cheers for that - I'd never thought of that solution before :)
