go on to the sony wesite, sometimes you have to download new software/firmware for these things, also use the technical help on the site.

    have you tried resetting it?

there's a small hole on the bottom (marked reset).. simply insert the stylus (or something small enough) to hit the small button hidden in there..
Then press the ON button again..

Failing that you can do a hard reset - do same above, but as it starts the "opening book" page press and hold the down directional and the 0 button (together) until you see a "reset all" page.

    good luck.

have tried pretty much everything that is says to do on sony website but its completely frozen on the opening page won't even do a hard reset and red charging light will only stay on for an hour max when charging really annoying

Does the screen clear when you hit the reset button?

only other thing I can suggest then is to remove the battery.

Here's a video that shows how to replace it - but method is the same.
    TBH - it's not trivial.

Looking around the net it seems to be caused by a corrupt internal memory - could be 1 book or all books. So if you get it reset then you'll need to reformat the internal memory.

This worked with mine, had exact same problem as yourself.

The battery is most likely totally dead so here's what you do.
Charge it from the electric socket in the wall for a few hours, it wont charge fully, for some reason after it charges so much it seems to start sucking life from the battery again so after that use a usb connection to your computer and leave it plugged in and leave the computer on for a few more hours.

You can plug it out every so often and turn it on to see how much the battery life has improved.

Its a common porblem with these when the battery totally dies.

Let us know how you got on. It should work though.;)
