Just wondering im in an apartment for college their are four of us all girls in Galway City. Their is an apartment beside us where at all times of day and night there are old men going into the apartment and the women in the apartment hiding behind the door when they open it. One night a drunk old man was banging down their door in the early hours and got no answer and was screaming on the top of his voice shouting dirty whores. So im basically convinced its a prostitute ring but i dont know what to do about it. I dont really care what they do to be honest but i feel worried going home late at night with these men near my apartment. Is their anyway i can find out if they are using it for prostitution but even if so i dont know what i can do about it. I dont want to bring hassle upon myself but im worried about going out for a few drinks and coming home drunk and meeting one of these clients while im trying to go into my apartment. Im not in the apartment too long and dont want to cause any trouble but im just not too comfortable with things but i cant be certain that they are prostitutes so i cant go saying things without proof.

Definitely call the guards and let them deal with it.

Well, I will say that one of my friends ended up with an apartment of prostitutes next door in Galway City, so it's quite possible. Though he had no clue until the landlord tossed them out and came round to apologize!

I'd collect a bit more evidence before ringing the guards, just in terms of documenting comings and goings of strange men. If you know who the landlord is, that might actually be the best place to start, or maybe go straight to the guards.

Dont try and 'collect evidence' or anything, just call the guards. You dont have to give your name or address so that way theres no chance of it coming back on you. Just ring up or drop into the local station and explain whats going on and let them deal with it.

Call Mill Street and let them take care of it. Its the job of the Garda to monitor the comings and goings to that apartment and not yours.

You are a group of vunerable students so the last thing you want is a pimp and his thugs to be looking at you for the reason they lost their source of income. Additionally, the last thing you want is for random men to mistake the apartment and start hammering on your door at all hours.

Make the phone call and let that be the extent of your involvement in it. Use the Confidential Garda phone line if you prefer.

Ring the guards. Tell them your neighbours are operating a brothel. Give the address, they won't be there much longer hopefully.
