Motorised Valve on Heating System

Need some help...moved into a house with 3 zones for the heating, beside the timer for the boiler there are 3 switches to turn on and off the different zones, one of them has not worked since moving in so the other night I went looking at it, there is a Danfoss motorised valve (model beginning with HP..) so I disconnected this and closed the valve manually using a pliars.
Can I replace the motorised part of the valve without replacing the rest of it? If so how is it easy to wire in? The valve was not easy to move manually - is this normal? where can I buy the part(s)?

One other questions, I cannot see a thermostat anywhere in the house - is there a way of controlling the temperature in the rooms without manually switching on and off the boiler?
    Thanks!

think this may be your problem
if there is a stat and its turned down or off then that may be why the mini-valve is not working
have another look around, there should be one
might look like this(in hall mostly)

any chance pics(clock with all zones turned on and mini valves)
also check that the clock has indication the relative zones are set correctly(auto for timed/cont for constant/)

Easy enough to wire, just replace like for like assuming its not the stat (remember to turn off power first at the fuse board)

    before you change anything
is there an indicator light on the mini valve
have someone turn the zones on and off from the clock while you watch the valve and see if the centre turns
this can take up to a minute so be patient
if it turns, get your mate to switch the zones off and watch the centre again(you may also hear the spring returning to position)

They're pretty reliable, your problem may be in the supply to the actuator.

I bought a motorised valve a few weeks back and despite ringing a few local places ('we only supply zone valves as parts of a kit') I ended buying from http://www.heatingcontrolsonline.co.uk/ (prefer to shop locally). They supply actuators seperately from valves.

    Best of luck :D
