Transit Wheel Nuts

    Lads,

Anyone know where I could get / source wheel nuts for an old transit twin wheel axle.
I believe the axle came from an 1991 transit van. The threads on the axle look like they are 16mm.
I've enquired at a Ford Dealers but they don't stock them any longer.
Any suggestions. I'm in Limerick by the way.

What ford dealer did you ask? Surely they're the same as the later transits, from 87-00 they were all the same basic shape and design, and the wheels on the 6 stud ones look the same as the very early mk3s so the nuts are probably the same.

    Thanks for help lads,

To cut a long story short I eventually got nuts from Cavanaghs in Charleville Ford dealers, the parts guy there was very helpful.
Basically I got the nuts and they fit the RHS studs, as you stand behind the axle, perfect no problem to thread and tighten up. However they won't thread on the other side.
Would there have been a reason why there would be different nuts/threads on either side of the axle? I thought I was eventually sorted when I got the nuts however fairly frustrated on Sat when one side would thread on the other wouldn't.
Anyone shead any light on this or have any ideas why this is?

I think the LHS have reverse threads. Something to do with the threads having the same direction as to when the van is moving forward. Helps in preventing the nuts loosen when travelling.

Sorry for ignorance but would having left hand thread on the lugs mean different nuts as well or should the same nuts do just threaded the opposite way.
