Heard Chris Forrester (very promising Bohs youngster) was on trial with them a month or so ago.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Heard Gary Shaw and Chris Shields off Wanderers were also on trial there, don't know how true that is.

I wouldn't have thought Graham Cummins would have gotten a contract. He seems like a good player but that's it. Not what's needed for the premiership.
Chris Forrester was doing the rounds at a few English clubs so I'll say he'll go over and sign for a club fairly soon.

    Why not with Cummins?

Sure Long only played something like one league game for the old Cork City before Reading signed him.

    Why, exactly, is this "news".

Shirley there are thousands of Irish Trialists at many English clubs every year who don't get offered contracts

Why are these three being singled out here?

but that still doesn't make much sense though, I'm sure they have rejected other Irish triallists in the past, and will do again in the future.

Yes, then he was in the Reading reserves for a good season making only a handful of first team appearances in his first 2 seasons at Reading.

Cummins is a great LOI Div 1 player. That is proven. Will he be a great LOI Prem player? That remains to be seen. Could he make the jump from LOI Div 1 to the premiership straight away? No. Not many can.

Look at Dave Mooney. Brilliant LOI goal scorer. Didn't get a look in at Reading and has ended up in League One. Which to be fair, is about his level. Look at Roy O Donovan. Scored goals for fun at CCFC, went to Sunderland, didn't get a look in and has only re appeared in the last few months making sub appearances for Coventry.

The likes of Cummins would be better off going to a decet League One side than a lower premiership side to help his progress. That said, I hope he stays with us for at least another season before he makes his inevitable move across to the UK.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

I was expecting some posts saying that English clubs were racist against Irish players (we had a thread about that a year or so ago)

Also waiting for someone to dig up and express disbelief at the old story from 2002 of the guy from NI not supporting the ROI in Japan.
