Can anyone here tell me what a plastic jag is for that comes with a shotgun cleaning kit?

Need to buy a new kit and I see most come with a wire brush / mop brush and a jag....

The kits iv prev had just had the 3 brushes.

    Thanks in advance

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but kits usually have a plastic attachment to hold cleaning swabs as you clean. The best way to clean them is wet one using Hoppes or something, put it up the barrel, then send down swab after swab until one comes out clean. Guaranteed to work. I don't like using the wire brushed too much.

Cheers for that... Never used swabs before on a shotgun lad, just the 2wire brushes and the mop head.;)

Don't use wire brushes, use brass brush so it wont damage the chrome, metal to metal isn't good, The brush is only good for shifting marks like lead fowling with hoppes as Hibrion mentioned but The pull through snakes does one good hell of a job and very quickly but if your after scrubbing with a gun cleaning agent role up sum kitchen role and push it through the barrel to collect all the excess dirt/liquid before you pull snake through as you want your snake to last. Its realy a buffer as well as a cleaner. You wont get over the gleam and how clean your gun barrels will be. Same goes with a rifle. Thats how i clean mine. See how it goes. Snake pull throughs are about 10 euro ;)
