Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo and downloading Apps ?

    Hi
    sorry for the rookie question

My wife just got a new Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo.
She does not have, nor does she want, any data package from Vodafone beacuse she just uses the internet on the wifi at home.

As I result I turned off 'Data enabled' to stop any data traffic over the Vodafone network

However When she goes to Market Place a message appears which seems to tell you that you must have Data Enabled to download apps.

Is this the case or are we reading the message incorrectly, and if so is there anyway to ensure that the download only comes via the wifi and not via Vodafone ?

    Thanks for your help

You need data enabled for market.

Just enable it and work away with wifi. If your paranoid about it using vodafone then just go to the vodafone internet settings and change them around so they won't work. Make up some random settings.

    Good idea, thanks for that.

there's a difference between cellular data and background data

background data is fine, and can be done over wifi.
cellular data is what vodafone will charge you for
