Emigrating transport personal belongings

My son and his wife are moving to Sweden in the new year. They may only be going for a couple of years. They have a certain amount of personal belongings that they want to ship to Sweden, not furniture, but books, clothes, electronic goods etc. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced, secure, way of getting a pallet or two of goods couriered to Sweden (or to any other country). They have priced the usual couriers and it looks like it could cost €2000 or more as a once off job.

Hope I have it in the correct forum...

That's a mad price - I'm sure there must be better value out there. Sure hiring a car, or driving your own and bringing stuff in the boot would be a lot cheaper.

Have you tried googling something like "shipping personal effects":

They considered buying a van and driving, but driving to northern Sweden in January not to appealing. Snow and ice etc. they would have needed a left hand drive as well. It's beginning to look like paying for a coupe of extra bags each and leaving most of their stuff behind. Thanks for the suggestions.
