Recommend a cart for 3DS please

Hi,

Looking for a good cart for the 3 DS. We've used R4 cards for a long while in the old DS lites but I've seen negative comments about R4 lately.

Is Acekard 2i the best way to go?

Or alternatives?

(Will i be able to copy files over directly from the old R4 to new cart?) - not a huge concern - just wondering.

Just watch the wording, these threads can be awkward to moderate because of the blurred line this things sit in.

But yeah, Acekard 2i would get my vote. Your aware that no 3DS content can be ran from these cards? Only the stuff we already know about...emulators, books, that kind of thing

I've had two issues with Gamekool this year - both of the times they've sent me dud cards. Sending it back registered costs €6, pain in the arse tbh. The most recent card they sent me is slightly undersized too, dodgy enough detection. Another real pain. All of that said, I've made close to 20 purchases this year, 17 went off without issue.

They're slipping down my list of people to buy from, but I've no idea who I'd use to replace them.

I just tried to purchase something from them and it declined my Ulster Bank Visa card because of "Bank Policy".....any ideas whats up with that?

just about to pay for something on that site and it brought me to pay.ips.com. I've never heard of them. How have others paid for items on this site?

In the end I chanced it and it seems to be fine (got an order confirmation). I'm with AIB.

just be carefull, i read the other day the latest 3Ds firmware blocks most carts ! so dont update, until safe to do so

R4i Gold is actually a good card, unlike other r4 clones, this one has Wood kernel....yet acekard acekard uses akaio. The compatibility for two carts are among the best i think.

Just discovered that one of the R4 carts we have is the R4 ge (games engine) which I believe is compatible with the DSi. The address on the cart itself is www.R4I-sdhc.com and when I go there they are not referring to R4ge at all just R4i and R4 3DS.

At the moment the R4 ge is not working on the 3 DS. Is it actually compatible with the 3DS and if so what do I need to do to get it to work with it(maybe upgrade firmware on R4 ge microSD card?)??

OK Thanks for all the help so far.
BUT

I ordered an Acekard 2i and an R4i 3DS from Price Angels.

The first problem with Acekard 2i is the fit - it fits into the slot well but it's tricky to get it out and it makes a worrying click as it is 'pulled' out which makes me fear for the life of the slot!!

Tried to set each of them up anyway - no luck! I copied latest firmware for each and AKAIO for Acekard 2i too. The Acekard starts up, looks good, choose a file and it gets stuck on 'LOADING'.
The R4i 3DS also starts well and when choose a file get an error 'romerr=-5'.

Any ideas please?

I bought a Supercard DSTWO from this website. You have the option of paying through Paypal as well.

They do more than just the r4 cards though. They have the Acekard as well.

If you buy a memory card with the flashcart, they will install the latest firmware for you as well which is handy.

Have you tried fromatting your SD card?

I've never used an Acekard 2i before, so I'm not much help.

Yes I formatted the SD card using SDFormatter which was recommended and linked on one of the sites R4i-sdhc.com I think.

Wonder if the site you linked could get Santa out of a bind;)

Are you sure you didn't get a fake Acekard as they are well made and fit perfectly.

No I'm not sure whether it's real or fake. I just ordered it - the packaging looks convincing, the card looks ok and has little holographic sticker on back. I presume the same goes for fakes.

The main thing now to get Santa out of trouble is to sort out the R4i 3DS to work on the 3DS to get rid of annoying error messages.

Is it for a 3DS??
Also do you have the newest kernal installed?

Just an update on this - everything now up and running successfully. I had the correct updated kernals and firmware etc. It turns out I had only loaded 1 file to test each cart.....and that file was not working properly!

Tried a different file - everything running smoothly on the R4 3DS and the Acekard 2i.

The Acekard fit is still a problem and I'm having serious issues contacting customer service at Price Angels.
