Can anybody help me please, I got my iPhone 4 about 6 months ago, jailbroke it and was enjoying exploring my device. I downloaded an app (paint photo or something like that) didn't like it so I deleted it. My phone rebooted but was taking a long time so I left overnight, it was still rebooting next morning. I tried the usual hold power and home keys bla bla... Nothing. Download .ipsw file 4.3.2 as that was the one I was running changed iTunes apple redirect in notepad and error..... The iPhone "iPhone" cannot....error code 3173 I think. If anybody knows how to fix this PLEASE HELP!!!!!

PwnageTool is what you require along with TinyUmberella

Was stuck just yesterday in DFU mode with a 3G after an unlock attempt went wrong, tried a lot of things, but what worked for me and might work for you:

    Download IREB r4 from here
    http://ih8sn0w.com/
I think that will be the right version for your phone.

IREB will help put your phone into a 'pwned DFU mode', which will allow you to use a custom IPSW (firmware) file when restoring with Itunes.

So using the steps I did with my 3G:
Open IREB (right click, Run as Administrator on Windows 7). Go to Recovery Mode Loop Fixer tab and click Set-Auto Boot True.

Go to iREB tab and select Iphone 4. Your iPhone will be set to 'pwned DFU mode' so that it can accept custom IPSW (firmware).

Launch iTunes and press Shift+Restore, then point to the custom IPSW. Restore will begin and wait patiently until it’s finished.

If the IPSW file you were trying to use was was a custom one, try it again and see if it works this time. I think most custom ipsw's jailbreak the phone for you.

    Hope it works for you!

Sounds like there is something wrong with your pc.
Try restore using a different pc
The 3173 error usually happens on failed ios5 updates so I'd say your gonna have to update
