Nokia Car Kit

    Hi,
I just bought a second hand car with an old nokia mcc-1 handsfree kit in it. I was just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to use the wiring going to it for a bluetooth kit since it's already hooked up to the speakers and all. Save myself a bit of hassle. I know there is a type of adapter available that will just slot into the kit that's there but I can't find it cheaper than 70 euro and since I've got no guarantee that the kit that's there still works, it's a bit of a risk. An help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

yet but still mutes radio etc so its reasonable enough. Most people dont even realise its a seperate speaker.
OP, you could get the bluetooth version of the kit that is already installed. If you did, it would simply be a matter of swapping out the control unit. Probably work best with nokia phone then though

Just found the speaker there, that's good to know. The nokia bluetooth sets should ideally work with any bluetooth phone though, shouldn't they? Any idea of a particular kit this would work with? and price?

Probably would but with basic functions maybe. If using a nokia phone, you would have voice dialing etc.

I'm not too worried about voice dialing to be honest. I've been looking up a few threads on various sites and there's a lot of conflicting opinions with what's compatible with that kit. I may just have to start from scratch.

Ck-7w is the bluetooth version. There is newer, but you shoud be able to get the 7w one on ebay for about 20 or 30 quid.
You will need to change the control box and route the wire for the control button. Might need to change the plug on the loom, as the older ones have a 6 pin connector, newer have 4 pin, but just need to cut and join the same colours together.

Thanks, is the control box just the cradle? I'd say I could manage that much wiring, haha!

If you have no plans for using it again, that would be brilliant, thanks!

Voice dialing works just dandy with my iPhone 3GS over a Nokia CK-7W, surprising that it may be that Apple don't make you connect via iTunes.

No, the control box is hidden, usually behind the glovebox. You'll need that, a button to answer calls and the power connector to connect to the old loom. The buttons are sometimes on ebay on their own.
You will be taking the cradle out altogether.

Great! I keep knocking my knee off the cradle every time I get into the car. I'll be delighted to get rid of that!
