nurse on call can be difficult to deal with(they want you to use email for contact a lot of the time). and if you ring them they threathen to put you to the end of their list for work. cpl i believe are more pleasent to deal with. but cpl may not have as much work available.

Has anyone got more information on this? What way do both agencies work? How do they organise your shifts for the week etc?

Oh thanks for thet. I hate when agencies to that, pick there favourites. All the agencies seem to do that, it so unfair :( It should be a fairer system.... Thnaks for your reply.

All agencies do it, in all sectors.

Why should it be "fairer" and what exactly would that mean? The only real option is that the more flexible, skilled, well-regarded employees would get offered less hours ... not a good way to keep anyone (nurse, agent, client or patient) happy.

The trick is to find a way to get into an agent's mind, so that they think of you when a client rings. Or even better, into the client's mind, so they ask for you by name.

They don't pick their "favourites". The give first choice to those who are most flexible. If I am willing to work anywhere at any time in any sector why shouldn't I get work before those who won't work at short notice, won't do nights, won't work northside/southside, won't work on their own, won't work with certain patients etc.

In my experience agencies have tended to have their favourites alright. So if you are a new agency nurse, lets say like when i joined a nursing agency about a year ago i told the agency I had one years experience in ICU, I was flexible, enthusiastic etc. But I found it very hard to get shifts because other nurses with lets say 10 years ICU experience were picked rather than me...(And any ICU nurse that was "buddy buddy" with the agency staff got the shifts before me too, I found that annoying.....)

There are also alot of "retired" nurses working in the Hospitals still. I am glad they are there as they are very experienced and a huge loss to all hospitals, but maybe they shoudn't have retired then, if they still work most weeks on the wards still, Its frouned upon for primary teachers to do this currently... They get picked over new graduates. Whether one calls that fair or not I dont know. Not very fair on the new graduates.....

any nurse on call guys there, im trying to find out if u had signed in the hospital sign in book and not signed off,how can u rectify this, timesheet signed ok,but the sign in book in the hospital is sent to hospital accounts and if there are any mistakes, how can it be sorted out, because if both timesheet and sign in book are not the same ,u dont get paid, and u cant talk to pay section in nurse on call.
