Hi,just wondering where the outlet vent of an inline bathroom fan extractor kit should be placed?

Does if go inside the attic soffit or outside it?

The soffit has plasic vents at various intervals,so do you just fix the extractor fan ducting and outlet vent into the attic over the soffit vent??

    Thanks.:)

`These soffit vents are not sufficient
you need to drill a separate vent for your extractor fan

    Thanks.

The ducting and vent itself is 100mm/4 inch diameter,so Im presuming that a 100mm holesaw drilled through the soffit board will be the way to go???

Thanks for the advice. My mate is doing it for me,he has all the various sizes of holesaw.

Can I ask,do you get wind or cold draughts comming into the bathroom when you fit an inline extractor though???

yes you can get back draughts
but you can install a little spring loaded excluder in the flexi duct to prevent this
i will check the workshop in a min to see what there called

You can actually buy a 4" soffet vent which is square on the outside and a round adaptor on the inside. It will actually fit the vents in your picture.

However it might be just as easy to drill a new hole.

Sorry for throwing a cat in with the pigions.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but thought you guys would be the best to ask to point me in the right direction.

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced inline bathroom extractor fan to replace an old one with jammed bearings.
I have seen plenty on eBay and also on websites but most are uk based and the carriage charges are way too high.

I don't need the full kit. Was in woodies and that was all they had - none with just the fan and their prices were looney.

Any pointers would be appreciated.. Thanks.

    not really
its designed to fall back into place with gravity(its springloaded)

perhaps an icon extractor fan would suit better
