Follow These steps to request Microsoft to re activate your account. You will need to provide them with a few details such as a few of your contacts names, your last read emails etc. Takes a few days from expierience but does work!

Its a manual process, mine took a couple of days, they probably gave you a code to a private forum you can use to chat to the microsoft employee, Mine blocked coz my chat program had the incorrect password in it, kept trying to connect and Microsoft blocked me :o:o

Yeah you need to keep at them, this recovery is a manual process so you need to get a person to do the change for you, it will help if you can name 3 or 4 contacts in the address book and your last received/read emails

Have asked them if they set it back to the old password. Hope they can. Still waiting for them to come back. I had to set up a new one just too ask them questions

My problem trying to reactivate an account was that I couldn't get past the mobile phone number stage. I was entered a mobile number and it wouldn't recognise it. Firstly, I'm not even sure if the phone number was ever registered with the account but if it was it was definitely the one I am entering. (It's not my account, I'm trying to help out a colleague)
I have filled out the steps mentioned above and now can't even get past the log in page to try a difference option with the phone number (trying to leave it blank). I presume this is because Hotmail now have to look into the account.

I got rid of my own Hotmail account long ago and would suggest you all do the same, it really is a disaster in terms of Spam, hacking & ease of use if there's a problem. Can't believe such a big name is so sh1t when it comes to trying to fix this problem.

I'v been using mine for years. I use mine for everything. Have contact from my cousins in the states etc.

They really aren't great in getting people back up and working again
