dont know if im in the right place here.

Does the name on your marriage cert have to be the exact same as on your birth cert.

I was born in UK and name on my birth cert is spelt Siubhan. When I moved here during school, somehow it got changed to siobhan, i think by teachers who just wrote it that way. As a result I got a ppsn card with siobhan on it, and just started using that myself when I went to college, driving license, bank accounts, insurance, my two childrens birth certs etc.

The only forms with Siubhan are my uk birth cert, my uk passport, and the irish foreign births register.

Most of my family arent around any more so noone really calls me siubhan.

I have two options as far as i can see -

1- Put down siobhan on marriage cert - I dont know if this is even possible. Would mean I would go by that spelling from now on and prob get passport updated to this also. I wouldnt have to change ppsn etc
So my name would remain as it is except on the birth and foreign birth reg.

2- Put siubhan on marriage cert - If i do this I will probably try to spell it this way in future and get it changed on all the stuff I have. I think I should be able to change it on everything except the two childrens birth certs. This would hopefully be convenient enough if I will be contacting them all to change my surname anyways.

Technically my name could still be pronounce the same so everyone would call me the same.

I know this might sound way over the top, but im trying to weigh up pros and cons of each so that theres less chance of me running into bother in the future either way.

Does anyone have any stories about incorrect name spellings or if the marriage cert has to be same as birth cert, if it does then im happy to go with siubhan.:)
