Tractor gearbox issue?

    Have a '05 MF 5445 - stickshift model.
Lately, i have an issue where the splitter button (red) on the gear stick stops working and the tractor will stay stuck in the low gear and not move up to the higher gear.
The issue only seems to occur during loader or heavy work and if i have been using it for a while - i.e. when its well warmed up.

I first noticed the problem when mowing during the summer - i would have been switching between low and high gear.
Didnt see it again for a while.
In the last few months, it has happened again a few times.
Seems to be happening more frequently lately.

i found that by stopping the tractor for around 30 seconds, then starting it again will solve the issue - but it will appear again after a bit of use.

Tractor is serviced at regular intervals. Oil levels are fine.
I put up around 350 hours a year.

Any suggestions of things to check before i look into contacting a dealer?

hmm i think there are a good few known bugs with that transmission system, for example when my 5455 is stacking bales for a while and when tractor gets hot the shuttle gets very jumpy, dont know if you ever noticed that with yours. this has happened in mine since I got it, ive told the dealer several times and they always fob you off and go on about re calibrating clutch..this summer it actually became dangerous it got so jumpy and it seemed to disengage out of gear altogether. we had to park her up a few times so had to get dealer out, they took off panels under the steering and replaced a some type of clutch sensor switch. seems to have cleared up the issue and it hasnt even been jumpy since although I was practically finished with bales at that stage. think it was about 70 euro..it might be as simple as a software update to fix yours, probably a dealer job though, they will need to plug in laptop....

I'm presuming that the 5455 transmission is made by GIMA and is similar to the ones in the Renault Ares, if that's the case it's 90% certain that the problem is a sensor or solenoid, unless you are very familiar with your machine I don't think that there is any way out of contacting the dealer, a few minutes with his laptop should show up the error codes.

We had a problem with our Renault 610 where she would shift into the low gearbox but not back out of it, the problem turned out to be the processing unit, the dealer had a spare which he fitted and then sent our unit off to the UK for repairs, I think the bill eventually was close to a grand, so maybe a sensor mightn't be the worst that could happen.
