Corsa C engine management light?

Feckin' Opels. My girlfriend's '02 Corsa C 1.2 auto has just started flashing the EML code P0170 twice, giving:

    P0170 Rich Exhaust C-30
    P0170 Lean Exhaust C-30

It sounds to me like a lambda sensor problem, but I'm not about to go throwing parts at it. Unfortunately I can't disconnect the battery to reset the light as I don't have the radio code. I can't drive it, but my girlfriend hasn't noticed a difference and it's idling fine. I've asked her to keep an eye on fuel consumption and floor it to check if it's rev limited, but otherwise I can't think of anything else to try. If it keeps doing it I'll hand it over to Nissan Doc, but does anyone have any other ideas? It's only used twice a week max.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking now too. We'll find out when it starts guzzling fuel!

Opels. Boring, crap or unreliable... choose two :(

I have a Corsa B with an X10XE 1L, the MAFs seem compatible but I'm trying to confirm it via Google now.

Edit: Yep they seem to be compatible and I know my Corsa's MAF works. I'll test it tomorrow. Thanks for the idea.

    Words fail me ;)

Clogged up lambda's could well be a possibility if its used so infrequently. I've seen lots of opel MAF's go but never seen a car running perfectly with a MAF issue.

PS, I'm a closet Opel man too..;)

Sure bring it up to me some day and I'll run through it on the computer to save you rooting around swopping parts.

LOL as am I  had a wonderful 1.2 city I drove the stones out of...didn't even have a cig lighter as standard...and did it break my heart!

I had quite some sensor changes to get it through the NCT

And in other news, my Corsa's backbox fell off this morning. Thank feck it happened in the carpark. Seems to be undamaged, just need a hammer, exhaust hanger and paste to get it back on.

    Could be the EGR valve.

I have a Corsa C engine that is showing those codes. I just got the valve blocked off. You usually only get about 50K miles from a replacement valve and it does no harm to block it off. Saves you over €100.

Just get used to looking at the light if you block it off.

Well, it's started cutting out at traffic lights now. No extra engine management code. Poxy Opels.
