    Why does my new 11 watt cfl bulb flicker in my old lamp which is designed to take bulbs up to 250 watts?

    Try it in a different light fitting, and see does it still happen.

    If it does, get cfl exchanged if new.

    Just figured out my lamp was dimmable, most cfl bulbs are not suitable for dimmable lamps, however, I did find a cfl bulb suitable for dimmable lamps
